Wolter Pool Company, Inc has been in business since 1965. Russell Wolter started the business by purchasing a pool kit from Spartan Pools and installing it in his own backyard. He enjoyed the experience so much that he did the same for three neighbors in the area. Russ’ full time job was the District manager of Standard Theaters, but his part time venture into the pool business soon became his passion. In 1976 Wolter Pool Company had grown so large that Russ decided to retire from the theaters and concentrate solely on the pool business.

The family business literally evolved from the Wolter garage. It was primarily a construction company with Russ, his brother Mark and neighbors helping out after their regular jobs were done. Once pools were installed, there was a demand for chemicals and accessories and so a retail store was started. Russ’ wife Pat ran the daily workings of the store, which quickly became too much for one person to handle. Their daughters Kim, Julie, and Lori all pitched in to stock shelves, clean the pool, take care of the grounds and help unload trucks (which at this time was done by hand, one case at a time).

In 1970, they outgrew the garage and moved to an adjacent parcel of land to accommodate the company’s growth. From there on, the store and warehouse were always expanding. Our buildings had been remodeled several times to fulfill the growing needs of our customer base.

To date Wolter Pool Company, Inc is a full service pool dealer. We sell and install polymer wall and steel wall vinyl liner pools, we have retail sales and service, and we are known throughout the stateline area as a pool company with comprehensive knowledge of water chemistry. We take pride in the fact that we have kept many of our original customers from 1965 to the present, which proves that our customers do indeed come first.

In July of 2001, we moved into our new 10,000 square foot facility at 3180 Prairie Avenue in Beloit. It consists of a 6000 sq. ft showroom and retail space and approximately 4000 sq. ft warehouse. The showroom has above ground pools, spas, outdoor furniture, saunas, toys, pool and spa accessories plus a full line of BioGuard chemicals for both pools and spas. We have a fully stocked parts room complimenting all the brands of equipment that we sell. We look forward to meeting the needs of the area better in our new building and to continued growth within the industry.

In 2007 Kim Wolter and Tom Larson purchased the business from Pat and Russ Wolter. Pat and Russ have stayed on to make the transition as smooth as possible and of course we have implemented some new ideas but the core of our company remains the same. We are a family owned business serving families since 1965!
